Help the Aged logo Age UK is the new force combining Age Concern and Help the Aged. We will be known by our new name from Spring 2010.

The Time Capsule - 1930s

Boyhood 1936 on...

I was born in the town of Grantham in the county of Lincolnshire on the 29th September 1936.
 
My education consisted of the following schools:
     
 Earlesfield County Primary Schools: 1941 - 1946.
 Spittlegate Boys School: 1946 -1951.
 Huntintower Scondary School: 1952
       Grantham College: 1952 - 1956

I served my apprenticeship in engineering at Ruston and Hornsby Limited from 1952 - 1957.
            
In 1957 I was called up for National Service for two years serving two years in the Royal Lincolnshire Regiment in the following countries: Malaya‚ Aden & Germany

I was demobbed in 1959 and finished my working career at the following engineering companies until my retirement in the year 2001: Ruston and Hornesby‚ Aveling and Barford & British Marco.
